One thing I’ve learned about Pittsburgh is that downtown brunches are far and few between, especially on a Saturday. But I have been to Ten Penny a few times to satisfy my hangover from Friday night (or satisfy the hair of the dog).

This visit, I got the granola, bruleed grapefruit, and the Ten Penny hash. The granola isn’t anything to write home about, but it’s definitely a staple for a breakfast. I will also say the same about the hash – it was almost an eggs benedict, just with potatoes and brisket mixed in. That wasn’t nearly as good as the garlic toast it came with though…
And for dessert – the bruleed grapefruit. This is such a fun idea on a classic breakfast fruit; plus, the crisp sugar coating takes away from the bitterness you would normally get.
If you’re looking for a spot to hangout on a Saturday or Sunday morning/afternoon, Ten Penny is definitely a fun place to be. And who can say no to a bloody mary bar?
